💜 June is Lipoedema Awareness Month

Lipoedema is a chronic and often misunderstood condition that primarily affects women and may involve pain, heaviness, tenderness, easy bruising, swelling, and disproportionate fat distribution.

Many women spend years searching for answers before finally hearing the word “lipoedema.”

Awareness matters.
Education matters.
And feeling heard matters too.

Did you know?

  • Lipoedema is not simply obesity
  • Diet and exercise alone may not change lipoedema tissue
  • Lipoedema and lymphoedema can coexist
  • Compression therapy may help improve comfort and support mobility
  • Early support and education can make a significant difference

Living with Lipoedema: from awareness to empowerment - live webinar

To support awareness month, I’ll be running four live webinar sessions of:

Not All Swelling is “Just Fluid”

Swelling can occur for many different reasons including lymphatic dysfunction, venous disease, inflammation, medications, surgery, immobility, systemic illness, or fluid overload.

Persistent swelling, heaviness, skin changes, discomfort, or one-sided swelling should always be properly assessed rather than ignored.

Understanding why swelling is occurring is an important part of choosing safe and appropriate treatment.

🧦 Compression Garments: Did You Know?

Compression garments are commonly used to support people living with lymphoedema, lipoedema, venous disease, post-operatively and chronic swelling conditions, but there is often a lot of misunderstanding around them.

If you are unsure whether your garments are still fitting correctly, have become uncomfortable, or are due for replacement, it may be worth booking a review with an appropriately qualified health professional.

If you are due for replacement compression garments, please remember that measurements are often best performed earlier in the day before swelling increases.

As appointment availability can book quickly, planning ahead for garment reviews and measurements is always encouraged.
