November 2026 Lymphatic Health Hub: feet, lipoedema and lock in DLT 2026 pricing
Nov 05, 2026
Hello and welcome to November
It's been a busy few weeks at LTTE. Our latest group of DLT practitioners has been in for their five days of in-person training, after completing their online theory. It's always a joy to see the hands-on skills come together.
In this issue, you'll find World Diabetes Day, a lipoedema course you can do in your own time, a peek at something new on the way, and a reminder for anyone planning their DLT training next year.
So take 5, grab a cuppa and enjoy this month's Lymphatic Health Hub.
World Diabetes Day | 14 November
Early action matters. Especially when it comes to your feet.
Did you know that 1 in 9 adults worldwide is living with diabetes, and an estimated 43% remain undiagnosed?
Diabetes affects much more than blood glucose levels. Over time, it can also affect circulation, sensation, skin integrity and wound healing. For people living with diabetes, small changes in the feet can sometimes become serious problems.
Six things worth paying attention to
1. Look after your feet
Check your feet daily for cuts, blisters, redness, changes in colour or areas of broken skin. Reduced sensation means an injury may go unnoticed.
2. Don't overlook circulation
Diabetes increases the risk of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the legs and feet.
An ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) can help assess circulation, although people with diabetes may require additional testing, such as toe pressures.
3. Have regular foot assessments
A professional diabetes foot assessment should include circulation, sensation, skin integrity and footwear. Higher-risk feet need more frequent reviews.
4. Take wounds seriously
A wound that isn't healing, particularly on the foot, should never be ignored. Early assessment and appropriate wound management can help prevent complications.
5. Compression isn't one-size-fits-all
Compression stockings can be valuable for managing venous disease and oedema, but diabetes alone is not an indication for compression.
Arterial circulation must be assessed before prescribing compression, particularly where PAD is suspected. The type and level of compression should be individualised.
6. Keep up with your diabetes reviews
Regular HbA1c monitoring, blood pressure checks, kidney health reviews and foot assessments all play a part in reducing long-term complications.

For health professionals
Sometimes we're the first to notice a change in a client's skin, swelling, foot temperature or wound healing.
Our role isn't to diagnose everything we see. It's to recognise when something needs further investigation and make an appropriate referral.
Early recognition. Early assessment. Early action.
A small observation today may make a meaningful difference to someone's health tomorrow.
This World Diabetes Day, encourage someone living with diabetes to book their next foot health review.
